Overall impression We enjoyed playing Booktastic, a game for book lovers. It is possible to play Booktastic as individuals or in teams though more than four players or teams may result in the game lasting a long time. The object of the game is to amass the most valuable collection of books and cash. Each player selects a Noteworthy Book card, which shows four books to collect during the game. Players collect the required books by buying or trading them. Like in other board games, the player must land on a designated place, a bookstore, to buy or sell books. Money is required to buy books. Players are able to gather money for their purchases by answering questions at the beginning of each turn. Depending on the level of difficulty of the questions and their answers, the players receive, more or less, money from the bank; that money can be used towards book transactions. A player that has collected all the necessary books of note in his or her Noteworthy Card announces the approaching end of the game; at that point the players have one more turn to improve their position. The player with the most valuable collection of books and cash, at the end of the game, wins.

While this game may be most fun for book lovers, people with varying knowledge of books can also play it. The knowledge of the players is defined as Casual Reader, Avid Reader and Collector. At the Casual Reader level, a player responds to a question that has no right or wrong answer and automatically receives money for his or her book transactions. At the middle level of difficulty, or Avid Reader, the player is aided by multiple choice questions. At the Collector level, the questions are more difficult, hints are not provided and the questions may cover books and information about publishers. The more difficult the question, the more money the player receives. These varying degrees of difficulty are a nice feature of the game which allows people that are not book connoisseurs to play. In terms of travel friendliness, the bulky box and three pounds of material made it impractical for trips with weight limitations.
