Overall impression: We found several parts of the book interesting. As visitors in Paris, it was interesting  to learn about another culture and how business and life’s little details are different from our own. The age of more specific details, such as addresses and business locations affected their usefulness.

Visitors to Paris planning an extended stay (a month or more) and new residents may benefit from a number of practical insights in the book. For example, it provides useful information on health care, including the names and addresses of some neighborhood pharmacies. The book provides specific information on residency, job searches, purchasing an apartment, opening a bank account and challenges for students. This data can help new arrivals orient themselves and better understand basic issues affecting temporary or permanent residents.

In the six years since the book’s publication, many things have changed in Paris. The book quotes prices in French Francs, a currency no longer in existence, rather than euros. It would benefit from the addition and updating of information including website addresses.
